It was a cold and forsty morning in the lower parts of London. The sun was covered by thick grey clouds. Everywhere looked really dull and sad. The Master had returned and was trying to take over the world again. But he didn't know that his daughter, Firestorm, was going to be out to stop him. Also the Doctor was going to be there as well. That was when they actually found out that the Master had returned because none of them had a clue that he was back. The Doctor and Firestorm didn't know, but soon they would joining forces to try and stop him.
A young girl that looked about eighteen was running down the street in a mad rush, she was late for college and she knew this was her last warning, if she didn't get there on time next week, she would be kicked out but she didn't seem to care.
The girl wasn't watching where she was going, she was paying no attention what so ever and it made her run into a man and she knocked herself off her feet. She looked up at the man nervously. "I'm sorry," she said with a nervous smile.
The man she had run into was in fact, the Doctor. He smiled down at her. "Hello there," he said, as he helped her up. "What in the world are you doing that you are in such a hurry?"
Firestorm smiled at the man. "I'm Firestorm, sorry for running int you like that. I'm late for college," she said with a slight laugh.
"Hello Firestorm. It's nice to meet you." He held out his hand for her to shake.
Firestorm smiled again and shook his hand. "I'm sorry again for walking into you," she said with a nervous smile. "I'm always late for college; I don't think there has been one day since I started where I have actually been on time." Firestorm quickly put her hand to her pocket as her laser screwdriver was going to fall out and she quickly shoved it back in.
"Always late for college? I find that highly unlikely." He laughed. He saw her move her hand to her pocket, but thought nothing of it.
Firestorm kept her hand in her pocket for a moment. But before she could take it out she got a shock off the screwdriver and jumped slightly. "Ow!" she said loudly, hoping that he wouldn't have noticed, but she knew he would have.
"Are you alright?" he asked curiously. He got the feeling something was going on, and this was no ordinary girl.
Firestorm nodded and took her hand out of her pocket. She rubbed her fingers together for a moment and noticed that they were burnt. She knew the Doctor would have seen her hand by now.
"How the hell did that happen?" he asked. "May I?" he asked so he could check her hand.
Firestorm held out her hand so he could take a look at it. Suddenly she felt a sharp pain in her leg as the screwdriver shocked her again.
The Doctor looked at her puzzled. He knew there was something going on. He looked at her and said, "You have a second degree burn, from something that is not off this planet." He looked at Firestorm with a serious eyes.
Firestorm now knew she would have to show the Doctor what she had in her pocket. "I don't know how to use this thing; my father gave it to me just before he died."
The Doctor took it and fingered it. "Where did you get this?" he asked seriously. He had seen this device before. Knew who had once owned it.
"I don't know where it is from. I only know that my father passed it down to me just before he died," she said quietly.
The Doctor turned his big brown eyes to Firestorm. "Was your father, the Master?" he asked. Only one man had a screwdriver like that. It was the Master. Who had noce been a Time Lord but died.
Firestorm nodded. "He gave me the screwdriver and told me to not turn out like him. He said to use the screwdriver to help people, just like you do," she said quietly.
As Firestorm was talking, a sudden memory flashed back into the Doctor's mind. A memory so long ago. He watched it unfold in front of his eyes.
Firestorm looked up at the Doctor. "He gave me it, but why? Why ould he give a daughter that he didn't love something so dear to him?" he asked. "One minute...did you see me when I was a little girl?"
The Doctor furrowed his brow. "I...Did." He said slowly. Then he looked at her. "I don't believe it." He placed his arms around Firestorm and gave her a big hug.
Firestorm smiled but the smile slowly faded. "Why would he give me this?" she asked him.
The Doctor smiled. Then he said, "Maybe there was a part of him, way deep down that loved you." He looked away. "You know, way, way, way, way, back, when we were kids, he was a very good kid."
Firestorm looked up at the Doctor. She nodded slightly. "Maybe he did." She sighed heavily.
"Ahh," The Doctor said. "He never was a bad man. But when he looked into that thing, I believe it changed him. Made him want to rule, there was so much power with being a Time Lord.
Firestorm nodded again. “How was he...” She trailed off and looked away for a moment. “How was he killed?” she asked softly. “I...never found out how he died.”
The Doctor looked distant. "He was shot. Shot by a lady in red. I believe it was his wife. He died in my arms. He would not regenerate." The Doctor turned away. It was a very sad day the Master died in his arms. "Then I gave him the Time Lords saramonie for death."
Fire Storm nodded and started to cry. “Lucy,” she whispered, she knew The Doctor would have heard her whisper Lucy’s name.
The Doctor embraced Fire Storm hoping to give her some kind of comfort. "Yes, Lucy." He said quietly. A pained expression came across his face as he remembered that terrible day.
“L...Lucy is my step-mum,” she said quietly. “Is she still alive?”
The Doctor paused. "I don't know." he said. "I believe she may be." He looked at her.
Fire Storm nodded and turned away for a moment. "All of this is my fault. If I had been there for him more...maybe he would still be here. It's my fault," she said quietly trying to control her emotions.
The Doctor placed a hand on Fire Storm’s shoulder, "No matter what, we can't change what happened." He said kindly
Fire Storm nodded. "I wish we could have stopped it." She hugged The Doctor. She looked up at the sky for a moment. "When I ran away me and dad were already on Earth and I found a family that cared for me until now." She sighed. "I always wished that I could have stayed by my father's side," she said starting to cry again.
The Doctor held on to her tightly, whispering words of comfort into her ear, hoping to give her some hope.
"Is there any way he could come back?" she asked in a sad tone.
The Doctor looked at Fire Storm sadly. "No dear." He said, "When he was shot, he didn't regenerate, therefore he died. Along with doing the time lord saramonie, he was cremated."
Fire Storm turned away, trying not to cry again. "Even though...he put me through so much...I still love him. I wish I'd never run away," she said quietly. She closed her eyes for a moment and had a flashback of something that had happened between her and her father. Tears started to fall from her eyes. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a picture of her and her father. She handed the photo to The Doctor to take a look. "I found this in his old house," she said quietly.
The Doctor took the photo from her. "Oh, you guys look lovely together." He said with a slight smile.
The Doctor held on to you, gently rocking back and forth on his feet.
“I wish I could bring him back,” she said starting to sob. “I miss him so much. I missed so many years with him when I ran away.”
The Doctor sighed. Then he said gently, "You need to stop living in the past." He said. He didn't want to sound rude.
Fire Storm gazed at him for a moment and nodded. "I know...but I'm scared if I look at the future that I'll forget him."
"You'll never forget him." He said, "Look at a man who knows. I was devastated when my world was destroyed, but I have moved on and I still remember it always."
Fire Storm nodded. “Dad told me all about the war, about how you both fought together,” she said quietly.
"Aye, he fought for a short while, but then he left. I had to lead our people to way." The Doctor had a pained expression on his face as he remembered the day of the war. It was horrid. It hurt him so much to think of it. He looked away from you.
She placed a hand on his shoulder. “I...I’m sorry,” she said quietly. She felt guilty for bringing up the subject.
"It's alright." Calming himself he brightened, "What do you say we go for a walk or something?"
Fire Storm smiled. “Yeah, that would be nice.”
"All right then." The Doctor smiled. They walked together down a busy London street. People were everywhere tying to get to where ever it was they were going. The sun was shining and it was warm outside. That brightened the mood. The Doctor glanced at some shops along the way, not really caring where he was going, just enjoying the moment.
Fire Storm looked around the street. She seemed to have cheered up slightly and she felt so glad that she had got to see The Doctor after thirteen years. "I can't believe it's been thirteen years since we last saw each other," she said with a smile.
"I know." The Doctor agreed. "It has been a long, long time."
Fire Storm smiled and hugged him. "I thought I would never get to see you again after that day."
He hugged her back. "Well you had a long life ahead of you. You still do. You never know what will happen."
Fire Storm nodded with a smile. She gazed into his eyes for a moment and then turned away. She looked up at the sky with a smile. "I know this might sound like a daft question," she said with a laugh."Have you been on any good adventures lately?"
The Doctor smiled. "Well, you know me, always out there. But yeah, I guess you could say good, cool, amazing adventures, you know saving the world."
She grinned. “Wow, I wish I was brave enough to do that,” she said with a sigh.
“You are brave enough; you’re saving the world without realising that you’re doing it. I bet you have fought a lot of aliens and saved your friends.”
She nodded with a slight smile. “Yeah, you could say that. I’m always getting myself into tight spots.” She laughed and turned towards him for a moment.
The Doctor grinned at her and then he turned and looked up towards the sky.
